Ever seen maypole dancers plait their ribbons to a modern music sound? Nor had I, before a team of talented Castleford children startled everyone in the Market Hall last Saturday with their modern interpretation of the maypole dance.Never defeated by a little rain, the Castleford Heritage Festival relocated to the market hall for its main celebration, and with the old pit banners hanging from the rafters it was a great sight to behold.
