Boost for Cutsyke area
BOOST FOR PLAY FOREST PLANS
PLANS for a play forest in Cutsyke received a boost with a £45,000 grant from the landfill tax credit scheme.Cutsyke Community Group is creating a play area on land behind Cutsyke Avenue, one of the projects being filmed for a Channel 4 series to be shown next year.
Work has already begun on creating a garden in the area and the scheme will include a multi-surface sports pitch for football, tennis and other games, a "play forest", which will incorporate play equipment and trees and a meadow play area for younger children. There is also work in progress to clear disused allotments on the site.
Rheta Davison, from the group, said: "The children round here have had nothing like this and we've included them in the project from day one. Groundwork Wakefield took their designs for the garden and they've also worked with the designers on the play forest.
"I'm really pleased we've got this money, we're just putting in for planning permission at the moment, so we'll be able to see what funding we need for the project." Back to top
