Lock Lane Residents

Lock Lane residents Group was founded in June 2000. Wendy Rayner organised a meeting with local residents Councillors Environment Cleansing housing, about 40 people turned up, it was rather heated at times. It was suggested that we form a committee and have a group name. A constitution was drawn up.

Our first project was road calming on Lock Lane and yellow lines around the entrance to Mill Lane and Hunt Street.

We managed to get a flashing slow down sign erected on the gateway in to town, slow road markings, a halfway island across the road near the Sports Centre, a taller traffic light post for the pedestrian crossing on the bridge, a separate entrance and exit from The Shell Garage.

This was a major achievement for us, and we are still striving to slow traffic down even more.
