The Group was set up in February 2000 to regenerate Cutsyke by residents who were fed up about the neglected state of the Cutsyke area. Cutsyke had not obtained any investment either through Council or private agencies for twenty years.
The Group has worked closely with Wakefield Council to upgrade heating and housing in the area and made links with local Councillors, the police, local schools and the Methodist Church. The Group has a drop-in centre where it holds computer classes, Internet classes, arts and crafts and, coming soon, cookery classes in healthy eating. Support for the drop-in centre came from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
